I look forward to it!
I had a really cool day at PAX yesterday.
Lots of demo games and chatting.
Here's a pic of the demo table I had set up:
I'm only running a small, simple game here. Launcelot, Gamekeeper & Highwaywoman vs Bill, Bullseye, Dodger & 3 Urkin.
As the event is busy I chose not to run any Alchemancy in the demo for speed and simplicity.
The mission involves Trevor the Rat having taken a valuable item both factions want (perhaps a rather nice piece of Cheddar). It it up to the competing Factions to grab the nimble and slightly stroppy rat, wresting the item from him.
Trevor moves twice in the maintenance phase of each turn, rolling a D8 and using the grenade template for direction. Then roll a D4 for distance. Roll separately for each move. Should any of his moves end with him in base to base with any Character then move him just outside 1" from the relevant Characters base and roll again for movement - this effectively gives Trevor extra move actions.
To catch Trevor a Character must move in to base to base contact, following all the usual rules for engagement in close combat. A Difficulty 15 Finesse Check must then me made to grab Trevor - this is not an Action.
As soon as Trevor is grabbed he will attack, attempting to nip the hand of the offending Character. Made an immediate Close Combat attack with +2 to the D20 roll. If this succeeds in hitting then Trevor is dropped and immediately runs off, taking a single move as above.
If any Character holds Tevor after turn 4 then that Company is consideredthe Victor. Otheriwse the game is considered a draw.
This game is being played on a 1.5' x 3' table (ending about where the back of the walkway is). I have the full 3 x 3 mat down but I'm only using the front of it. As it's a demo I want to get the Action started fast and not have trevor bugger off in the wrong direction where no-one can reach him
If you guys would like I'd be happy to expand this into a full mission for you.
I'm heading back in today for an 9.00am start, finishing at midnight once again
I must say it's really nice meeting backers and new customers alike. I think that's the bit I like best about conventions (other than all the other cool minis and stuff I can buy!)
