Demo Game minis

Post by PeteDG » Sun Aug 06, 2017 5:36 pm

Hi all!
I am starting work on a set of minis to use in demo games of Twisted. I have a bunch of minis already done that I've been using but they are mostly resin and have suffered a bit at the hand of, shall we say, "over enthusiastic" gamers
Whilst the resin used for Twisted minis is pretty resilient it isn't as tough as metal so I'm starting to replace them with metal versions.
First up is the Gentlefolk Lancer.
So far he's just been built and undercoated and his base has been done.

I'll be sure to update here as he progresses. You can also see in this shot Maria from the Guild of Harmony (as a kind of proof of my painting ADD) and a Dark Age mini that I'm also working on at present when time allows.
Cheers
Pete

Ooh, looking forward to the Lancer - what is your planned colour scheem? The "official" one or something else?

Also, what have you got planned for the demo forces?

I'll be doing him primarily in hues of blue & aqua with some burgundy trim. Metallics will be steel, brass and a touch of gold here and there.
There really is no "official" colour scheme of the Lancer as yet - we haven't painted a studio version but The Servants key colour is always aqua (GW Hawk Turquoise or similar) so that will always make an appearance.
For demo games I tend to run Characters that are reasonably simple, straight up shooty/hurty ones or solid Alchemancers. It's easier to show off the game if you can point at a model and say "get him into Close Combat" and it also makes the game a bit simpler and faster.
I often drop some abilities for demo games, just keeping the key ones, as I don't want things getting too bogged down with interractions of rules etc, I'd rather people just had a fight and had fun!

Managed to do a little more to the Lancer

Still mostly base coats and washes but you can start to see the colour scheme coming together now.

Looking good!

And now I'm wishing I'd bought a bunch of those base inserts too... :'(

Ha - who knew?

(Well, other than you, of course! :) )

I am always interested in basing, base inserts, etc.

I think Twisted! lends itself to a lot of unique - and yet unified - designs...

Ooh, looking mighty fine! I like how the colour palette is shaping on this one. That's such a great sculpt!
